Exploring Further: The Te Akau Walking Track Expands

In Autumn 2026, the Trustees of Te Akau were pleased to announce the completion of the second section of the walking track.

Running from the hill lookout above Elliot Bay, this section crosses the coast road before continuing uphill to the bush edge near the skyline, further opening up the property and providing visitors with access to Te Akau’s spectacular coastal vistas.

Covering more than 3 km of track, the new section features well-constructed pathways and stairs, with a number of viewing areas along the way. The track includes a steep climb through the bush before culminating in a spectacular viewing platform on the ridgeline, offering sweeping views across the surrounding landscape and coastline.

This latest addition further enhances the walking network at Te Akau, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore more of the property and experience its remarkable natural beauty.
